Frequently Asked Questions

How does the Só Dança Bert BA26 fit compared to a standard street shoe size?
The Só Dança Bert BA26 is designed on a men's-specific last and typically fits true to street shoe size for most dancers. Because the shoe is available in Medium, Wide, and X-Wide widths, dancers with broader feet should select their correct width rather than sizing up in length. When in doubt, consult the Só Dança shoe size chart, as fit can vary depending on foot width and instep height.
What width options are available for the Só Dança Bert BA26, and how do I know which width to choose?
The BA26 comes in Medium, Wide, and X-Wide widths, making it one of the most inclusive men's ballet shoes in Só Dança's lineup. Dancers with a standard foot width should choose Medium. Those who find standard ballet shoes feel tight across the ball of the foot should try Wide, and dancers with a significantly broader forefoot or those who have had discomfort in wide shoes should consider X-Wide.
Is the Só Dança Bert BA26 suitable for professional use or only for students?
The BA26 is suitable for both advanced students and professional dancers. Its split-sole construction, suede outsole, and men's-specific fit make it appropriate for intensive class and rehearsal use at any level. Many professional male ballet dancers choose this shoe for its combination of floor feedback, flexibility, and secure fit.
How do I care for the canvas upper on the Só Dança Bert BA26?
Canvas ballet shoes should be spot-cleaned with a damp cloth and mild soap. Avoid submerging the BA26 in water or machine washing, as this can distort the shape of the shoe and damage the suede split sole. Allow the shoe to air dry completely away from direct heat. Rotating between two pairs during intensive rehearsal schedules can extend the life of each pair.
What is the purpose of the nylon spandex insert in the Só Dança Bert BA26?
The nylon spandex insert runs under the arch of the BA26 and serves two functions. It hugs the instep to create a cleaner, more streamlined foot line when the foot is pointed or articulated, and it provides light arch support during class and rehearsal. This insert is not a substitute for orthotics or medical arch support but is beneficial for everyday studio use.
How does the elastic drawstring on the Só Dança Bert BA26 work, and can I reposition it?
The elastic drawstring on the BA26 is pre-sewn at one end for security, while the free end remains adjustable. Dancers can reposition the free end to customize how the drawstring sits on the foot, ensuring a snug fit across the vamp without excess pressure. This design allows each dancer to fine-tune the fit to their individual instep height and preference.

My go-to practice shoe

These are comfortable, well-made practice shoes at a great price. They take a beating and hold together even as the canvas eventually wears down after many months of practice. They are reliable and I never have to think about them. I just throw them in my bag and go.
