Happy International Dance Day!
Celebrating International Dance Day
Every year on April 29th, the world comes together to celebrate the universal language of dance — and we couldn't love it more.
International Dance Day was founded in 1982 by the International Dance Committee of the International Theatre Institute (ITI), a UNESCO partner organization. The date was chosen to honor the birthday of Jean-Georges Noverre, the legendary 18th-century French dance master whose groundbreaking work, Letters on Dancing and Ballets, helped shape ballet as we know it today.
The mission has always been beautifully simple: to unite people across cultures, borders, and backgrounds through the power of movement, and to remind the world just how vital dance truly is.

A Day for Every Dancer
What makes International Dance Day so special is that it belongs to everyone. Whether you're a professional dancer gracing a world-class stage or a student lacing up their very first pair of ballet shoes, this day is yours. It's a celebration of dedication, passion, and the indescribable joy that only dance can bring.
At So Dança, we believe dance is more than steps and technique — it's a way of life. It's the early morning rehearsals, the hard-won progress, and the magic of performance that make this art form so deeply transformative.
Dance On
This April 29th, we invite you to celebrate with us. Take a class, share your love of dance with someone new, and take a moment to remember why you fell in love with movement in the first place.
Happy International Dance Day from all of us at So Dança — keep dancing! 💃
